Engineering Technician
Job description
About the role:
Due to the increasing Engineering provision at our Kings Cross Centre, we are looking to recruit a technician to support our students and teaching team. You will work closely with the teachers to offer a wide range of support to ensure the successful delivery of the curriculum. You will also work alongside students to help them develop their practical
skills and to support them in their projects. Whilst the role will see you contribute to the wider science team, the primary focus will be on physics and electronics and therefore an excellent working knowledge of the practical aspects of these disciplines will be essential. This role will be starting August 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
About you:
Appropriate experience in either education or industry which has enabled you to develop the knowledge and skills required for the role. Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure to secure excellent outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure a positive working relationship with the team and with students. An understanding of the challenges of working within education and the ability to respond to these. Excellent working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Rules and Regulations and Legislation.
About us:
Our Science and Engineering team are a close knit team who have high expectations of themselves and of their students. We offer A-level Sciences and Vocational Science at level 2 and level 3 and Engineering at level 3. There are around 450 students studying these programmes. In addition we run a very successful Engineering programme in conjunction with City University. The Science and Engineering team are part of the wider faculty that encompasses all A-levels, Science and Engineering provision at Westminster Kingsway College.
Westminster Kingsway College is a further education college in central London with centres in Camden and Westminster. It offers a huge array of academic and vocational courses for 16-18 year olds and adult learners, such as A-Levels, BTECs, Apprenticeships, Foundation Degrees, Access to Higher Education, employability training and short courses
We are part of the largest college group in London. Our colleges include City and Islington College, Westminster Kingsway College, and The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London. We are committed to success through equality and diversity.
