Job description
About the role:
You will be responsible for teaching on the Key Stage 4 Alternative Provision courses at Westminster Kingsway College (Kings Cross Centre). These courses are aimed at learners who are at risk of permanent exclusion or those that have been permanently excluded. A high number of these learners have been moved from secondary schools for a fresh
start.
You will be responsible for delivering a BTEC Level 1 Introductory Certificate/Diploma in Vocational Studies (a range of units including but limited to: Business, Media, Health and Social Care, Public Services). In addition to this, you will teach the Functional Skills English qualification (Entry 3 - Level 1) as well as some GCSE English delivery. You will tutor one of the groups and be responsible for general curriculum responsibilities including assessment, tracking student achievement and some administration for the courses.
About you:
With appropriate experience and qualifications reflecting a strong background in working with students who have challenging behaviour. You will have a teaching qualification or the commitment to undertake one during the first term of contract. You will have a history of teaching within a vocational (or similar) context to a high standard, with personal/group tutoring experience and of teaching a variety of BTEC units at Level 1. You must have the ability to communicate with students and to motivate and support them in their studies.
